You can expect a steady flow of new clients needing expansion and or customization
on your designs.
There are a few guidelines you should be aware of before submitting
your template to FreeSiteTemplates.com.
When you submit your designs, you are granting FreeSiteTemplates.com
the right to freely distribute your designs to any visitor asking for
permission to download the file. You may request but not insist that
link credit remains within the template your template will not be added.
By submitting your template you are giving the template to whomever
downloads it free and clear.
You will be highly visible to the people who download your files.
Your full contact information, including your email address, company
name and the URL of your web site.
To submit your template, you will need the following:
- A ZIP file containing all of
the elements and source files needed to make use of the template,
including HTML pages, graphics and instructions (if any.)
- If the template uses Flash, the Flash source files
MUST be included.
- If the template is for Dreamweaver, FrontPage or other page generator,
the templates source files needed to generate the
page MUST be included.
- A readme.txt file including information about
the template along with any editing instructions and information
you and your services.
You cannot insist or require a link, copyright to your company or
company 'credit' to remain on the site in any form.
- A 256 pixel wide thumbnail of the main page of
the template.
- Please include the standard copyright line that
we have on all of the templates. This is important to show the user
where to place this information.
- Please include a location in the design for a standard
468 x 60 banner advertisement. All of our templates have
a banner integrated into them to help the user know where it should
go.
- Please validate your code. While 100% validation
is not necessary, correct code is. Any templates with errors that
cannot be quickly corrected will be deleted.
- Please review our Quality Guidelines if you have any concerns
or questions regarding the types of templates we will accept.
- Please be sure to include everything a user would need to customize
the page. Without these files we will not be able to list your template.
That's all there is to it. Our database software will upload your files
and data for review by the site manager. Any missing or incorrect information
will cause delays in inclusion and the possible exclusion your template.
Quality Guidelines
While FreeSiteTemplates.com accepts a wide variety of templates reflecting
a wide variety of skill levels from basic HTML to Flash we do have a few
quality restrictions.
Code should be correct. Please use a validator on your site to check
for any errors before submitting. The most common errors are incorrectly
nested tables and fonts tags. While you may code to any level of HTML
or xHTML you choose it is preferred that you follow current w3
standards and guidelines.
Templates submitted should be actual templates. Please do not submit
full copies of your own web site complete with links and text.
Please do not submit templates that are little more (or less) than
self promotion.
That's about it.
If you contribute a template without the standard requested features,
we will add them to the design for you. If your template is submitted
in a format other than ZIP it will be deleted before review.
