Sadly, I simply must find a new host.
Here's my main question:
Will moving from a server located in the US to one located in Canada pose any issues for my currently well ranked .com sites?
I am with GoDaddy, and when I asked to upgrade my RAM allocation today, they said I could not, and would have to jump to their dedicated server package, which starts at $89/month.
I currently pay about $40/month for my VDS, and honestly, I'm seeing the sites lag when traffic to the main one is higher - which in turn affects the Adsense revenue.
The VDS is only running 256 of RAM, which was fine for when things were smaller, but I now have 4 - 6 sites, the biggest of which is seeing upwards of 6,000 pv per day.
I'm nowhere near my bandwidth limits, nor am I even close to seeing the storage space limits on the hard-drive. But, I think the 256 is killing the speed of the sites, and thus, the users experience.
After my chat with them today, and thinking back on all the frustration they've caused over the last 2 years, it's time to download everything and move on to a new host.
My main concern, as noted, though, is if I decide to find a Canadian-based host, will that skew my current rankings in the SERPs - I'm not interested in anything "local", and I'm hoping the fact these are all .com sites will preclude any worries, but I figured I'd ask.
Oh yeah, and if you have any reputable hosts you have personally used, feel free to send their name along.

Found anything SportsGuy?
256 MB RAM for servers ? The minimum you should aim for if you have dynamic pages is about 2 GB. Many hosts will the mail server, MySql servers and HTTP servers in the same box. It is imperative that the box has at least this much to cope with normal activity leave alone transient loads.

In the same box? I hope not. The start-up ISP I used to use had separate redundant servers for each service.
