Hi guyz,
We had a site that had a content section.,
site.com/content which had several pages, now we found a bug in the script and have stopped the section and deleted the old pages.
Now how do i do a 301 redirect for all the old pages to site.com/content ?. Google sends several visitors to the old pages which now do not exist.,
Pls help

Unless you have them organized in a separate directory, you might have to write individual directives for each page:

If you want all the accesses to the "gone" pages to route to just one particular page of the site, a simple rewrite (using the .htaccess file) should do the trick:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^content/(.*)$ www.domain.com/the.page.html [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^content/(.*)$ www.domain.com/the.page.html [R=301,L]
Do you want the www.domain.com/the.page.html page itself to be indexed? If not, then make sure it contains a <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> meta tag.
