I feel like an idiot for asking this, but I'm not sure and can't find what I need by searching...

If I register a .com from somewhere but host my site with someone else, the webhost says they'll transfer the domain for me, but can they steal my domain doing this? I am not sure how all this works. Does anyone know of somewhere that explains this? If so please send me a private message with links, thanks.

Please reply in public..... that's why we have a forum (and links to major resources are OK; self-promotion is not).

As per our forum rules, please do not include any URLs (website links), signature text, spam, or self-promotions within your post.

This is why I said to post urls privately. It doesn't state "posting major help resource URLs is okay" smile

Take it from me, links to major resources, major tools sites, and major established businesses are fine if they answer the question.

Links to your own sites, self-promotion, signatures, spam, and other distractions and self interested posts, are always edited or deleted.

Posting major help resources is OK, that's just kind of assumed, when they say what isn't ok, that's because that isn't ok, which is why they say it isn't ok.

The text might not be fully clear, but when they say 'no urls', they mean no urls posted for the purpose of promotion, which is most of them, sadly.
