Most links are of the form:
hyperlink - Promotional text.
Does google only look at the text immediatly AFTER the www link or would it be better to form the link thus?
Promotional text - www hyperlink - More promotional text.

Have you tried to construct a link like that? I have not tried this but it seems like it might not work... Could you give a functional example of your idea?

The following might give Google something else to chew on if it was sniffing around the link (ie before AND after the www link).
<p>Car rentals in Mexico. <a href="http://www.mexicocars.com">
Mexico Cars S.L.</a> Offering vacation car rentals in Merida, Mexico. </p>
as opposed to just:
<p><a href="http://www.mexicocars.com">
Mexico Cars S.L.</a> Offering vacation car rentals in Merida, Mexico. </p>

It doesn't matter, Google will read everything whether before or after the link.

Think of it as in overall page content to keywords ratio... (i.e. don't over do it)

This is really what I am talking about.
What about all those link requests we send out with the hyperlink and text following? Everyone does it the same way.
This is just a sanity check to see if its may be worth changing the way I ask for the linkback's from other sites.

Stop looking at it from a 'bot' point of view and look at it from a user point of view. Both methods work. If you can work a link into paragraph type text, and it makes sense (meaning you don't have the urge to hide it) then do so. Otherwise don't worry about it. Do keep in mind the number of links you have on a single page however. Google recommends less than 100 links per page, if you get carried away you can easily cross this line.
