I don't know if you have the same problem. I often tend to get "emotionally" hurt on internet due to people reacting negative, often when my posts are percieved as spam. However, link building on blogs is a very effective way of notifying people about your website.

Same problem and how do you avoid this?

The trick is to see it from their POV; this sometimes means posting without dropping a URL; it sometimes means not posting at all.

However great you think your site is, however important you think it is that everyone knows about it, visits and makes you rich, you need to remember that yours is but one point of view, their are others.

If you join a forum and become a worthwhile, helpful member, then no-one will mind you mentioning your site; if they know you and know you have something worthwhile to say, they may well visit.

But if you join forums / respond to blogs / whatever specifically to drop links - be honest, now - then be grateful for hurt feelings. You could get worse.

One needs a thick skin when building links this way. wink

Contribute at the blog or community regularly, then look for the link - i all comes down to trust.

Yes, I am exploring more acceptable ways of promoting my site, forums frequently let you put links in signature or account details.

I am a MOD at a different web site forum and as per instructed by the sites owner - sig lines with a URL are not permitted and yes ( sorry ) I delete those posts.

When people join the rules/guidelines are right there, which state that URLs, sig lines etc are not permitted.

So yes, read the forum rules/guidelines carefully smile

This forum, like Webmasterworld, does not allow signatures. It makes for a cleaner read.

If you want endless schemes, scams, and a linkfest, you need to be on DigitalPoint.
