    What is the difference between the "hits" and "files" in the logfile analysis?

    hits are those, no: of pages are requested and no: of files are existing in that pages which are unique.
    where as files are those, no: of pages are requested from the server and cache.

    for example, requested pages are 1
    no: of files in that is 10
    then, no: of hits is equal to 1+10=11.

    for files,
    requested pages are 10
    out of 10, 3 pages are came from the same url
    then,the total no: of pages are only 7.
    In these pages 3 came from the server and 4 came from the cache.then total no: of files are 3+4=7 whereas total no: of pages are 3.

    Hits includes all the objects in the web page like Gifs, text boxes, lables..etc. and the page itself is also treated as hit so the total no.of hits is adding 1 to the total no.of objects in a particular page.

    Files will be with Extension like .Aspx,.Html,.Jsp...etc
