So... Right up front. I apologize if I am in the wrong forum and for not knowing the correct term for what I am wanting. I am looking for help on creating the icon that is located on the left side of the page location. For example, I currently see the "explorer" icon to the left of'http://www.searchengineforums.com/apps/searchengine.forums/action::new_message/forum::design/'. Does that make any sense?

Again, sorry for not knowing the correct name and hopefully I am in the correct forum.

Thanks!

It is called a Favicon. The initial purpose was to use as an icon in your Favourites (or Bookmarks), but the usage spread to other parts of the browser.

There are many programs you can use to create those. They have a very specific format and size.

They are great when you have several dozen tabs open in the browser, such that you can only see the first one or two letters of each page title.

The favicon neatly reminds you as to which tab is which site.
